I have an international reputation as a teacher at all levels of ability. My strong philosophy on teaching is given voice in my best-selling book for piano teachers The Piano Teachers Survival Guide, described as a ‘must have for any piano teacher’. You can hear and see me at work with students at one of the many festivals or masterclasses around the country – diary.
It is my belief that one should nurture the musician first and the pianist second, inspiring and motivating pupils to practise by engaging their imagination, encouraging them to take ownership of an interpretation and to communicate their ideas with sound, developing their technique for musical ends.
As well as teaching advanced and professional pianists, I am passionate about early years piano teaching, and am currently working on a specialist resource for pre-notation piano teaching. Having been the Head of Keyboard at Radley College in Oxfordshire for a number of years, I have particular experience teaching and inspiring pianists between 13-18 years.
Many of my former pupils are performing professionally as soloists, accompanists and
repetiteurs and several have had notable competition success, including BBC Young
Musician and International Competitions.
Together with my work as a pianist, examiner, presenter and adjudicator I have a private teaching practice based in Oxfordshire, and occasionally have spaces for motivated pupils. Please feel free to contact me at anthonyjawilliams@gmail.com to discuss lessons if interested.
